If you need some guidance, we’ve put together the following tips to guide you through this process we call STATS. The S.T.A.T.S. method (Sight, Touch, Aroma, Taste, Sensation) is a five-step process for identifying high quality, remarkable flower, not unlike the multi-step process for evaluating wine.
Sight – examine the following aspects: trichome content, color, structure, size and trim.
Touch – give the bud a little squeeze and note how dense and sticky it is.
Aroma – most strains expose their scent by opening the dram but breaking up the flower can bring out underlying aromas.
Taste – if you’re rolling your flower into a joint, you can get a taste by puffing before you light it.
Sensation – start low, go slow. How do you feel after smoking the strain?
